Kirsty
Founder/Head Coach
I’ve been teaching surfing for over 14 years, and started Camel Rock Surf School here in Bermagui in 2018.
I’m a Surfing Australia Level 2 coach, but there’s a lot more that I hope people to take away from a lesson than just standing up.
I love helping people understand the ocean, build confidence in the water and push themselves just far enough outside their comfort zone to realise what they’re capable of.
When I’m not coaching, there’s a pretty good chance I’m still in the ocean, competing with my local boardriders club, hiking or mountain bike riding.
One of my favourite parts of this job is teaching first time surfers, such an amazing feeling!
Amber
Surf Instructor
Amber was just 10 when she first learnt to surf with Camel Rock Surf School - and now she’s one of our qualified surf instructors. How cool is that?!
Grounded, calm and almost always smiling, Amber has a way of making people feel comfortable in the water straight away.
She’s brilliant with both kids and adults, and brings the kind of positive energy you want beside you when you’re trying something new.
If I had a dollar for every time one of the kids asked, “Will Amber be coaching?” I’d be doing pretty well!
We absolutely love having Amber on the team.
Eliza
Surf Instructor
Eliza has been surfing since she was little, first getting into it through her dad on family holidays to the South Coast.
Now a qualified surf instructor, one of the things Eliza loves most about coaching is helping other women realise that they belong in the water too. She’s a big believer that everyone’s surfing journey looks different - there’s no one right way to be a surfer.
She loves cruisy, uncrowded waves, rides a shortboard and can usually be found with a chai latte after a surf.
We love Eliza’s warm, encouraging approach to coaching and are so happy to have her sharing the joy of surfing with the CRSS crew.
